While driving the Beartooth Highway on the road trip, we encountered dense clouds at the top of the pass. Almost simultaneously, “Ends of the Earth” by Lord Huron started playing on Fred’s shuffled playlist. It was an appropriate song for the journey – the end of the earth was just over the guard rail.

The highway is full of switchbacks for travelers to climb and descend the mountains, and it passes through beautiful alpine meadows, but being in the clouds prevented us from enjoying the sweeping vistas of Wyoming and Montana the route is known for.

Along the way, I created a few installations at 10,000+ feet. It was cold, my fingers grew numb, and Fred cautioned me to not fall off the mountain. (I didn’t!)
